Mission Statement

The core purpose of The Jane Lane School is for everyone to work tirelessly to achieve extraordinary results continuously through person-centred approaches that deliver truly inclusive provision.

We hope you have all had a lovely summer and are excited to welcome all pupils back to school on Thursday 3rd September. We have been working hard to ensure the safety of students, staff and their families at all times. We are working within the guidelines set out by the DFE, to ensure the school site and daily routines are as Covid secure as possible, such as enhancing cleaning across the site and implementing a one way system. Our procedures will be reviewed regularly and adapted as required.

The school day will run as usual from 8:50am to 3:10pm. We would like only 1 parent/carer from each family to bring and collect students to reduce the number of people around the school site. Members of the leadership team will be outside school on Thursday 3rd September to assist parents /carers with arrival and departure procedures. We are endeavouring to reduce the number of vehicles on the school site so ask parents and carers to park away from the site if possible and walk students across to school. We understand that for some families this will not be possible so please speak to staff, at a social distance, if you have any concerns. Additionally, we are requesting that all parents adhere to social distancing rules when dropping off and collecting pupils. Home to School transport have also assured us that they have been working closely with Public Health Walsall to ensure that they comply with their operational guidelines and have been able to utilise the vehicles and seating to allow pupils to be separated. For any concerns regarding transport, please contact SEN transport.

Pupils are required to attend in full school uniform. All uniform should be labelled, including outdoor coats. If you have placed uniform orders, these will be available for collection on Wednesday 2nd September. Please call the school office on Tuesday 1st September to arrange a collection time.

We have been working closely with our kitchen staff to make sure that students having a school lunch will be able to choose a hot meal daily. If pupils are eating packed lunches provided from home, all packaging should be disposable. We suggest sending packed lunches in a labelled carrier bag. As outlined by the DFE, it is essential that students limit the resources and equipment they bring with them so please do not send your child with school bags, pencil cases or lunch boxes, unless it is essential. All equipment will be provided.

At present, we are not welcoming visitors onto school site and therefore if you need to speak to anyone please give us a call, or drop us an email in the first instance.

We would like to reassure all parents and carers that the safety of our students, staff and their families is our priority and that we are doing everything we can to keep everyone within the school environment safe. If anyone in your household exhibits any symptoms of Covid-19 please stay at home and contact school immediately.

Finally, we know that this has been a challenging time for all and we thank you for your on-going support during this time. If you have any concerns or queries, please give us a call or drop us an email so that we can discuss these with you.

Many Thanks
The Jane Lane School Senior Leadership Team

Jane Lane is 7-16 special school for pupils who have Educational Health Care Plans of special educational needs. The school is designated for pupils with moderate learning difficulties; however, the majority of pupils have additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties and some behavioural issues.

All pupils are taught in small classes, with a teacher and a teaching assistant. We follow the Team Teach behaviour management system, which focuses on positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
